PREPARING A WILL
Planning for your family’s security and well being
COMPANION ESTATE DOCUMENTS YOU SHOULD CONSIDER
As part of your estate planning you may also wish to consider having
the following documents prepared:
Power of Attorney: This document allows you to appoint
someone to look after your financial affairs for you during your lifetime.
It permits your appointed representative or attorney to deal with real
estate, bank accounts, investments etc. You retain the right to deal with
your own affairs as well as your representative/attorney.
Guardian in Health Care: You have the right to refuse
hospitalization and medical treatment. This presumes that you are competent
to make this decision. If you are not competent, but have executed a Guardian
in Health Care, your selected attorney or guardian may give or withhold
consent for medical treatment for you under the Medical Consent Act.
The information contained in this brochure
is intended for general information only. For advice specific to your
